Waiting for Spring in the Brainerd Lakes Area!

The Brainerd Lakes Area saw about 13 1/2 inches of snow last week. Now we are enjoying the sunshine. We are all waiting for spring. As I go around and talk with the people, it is very interesting to see the snow birds come back to their home. The area is starting to grow again, and it is a lull time in this area. Did you know there is a gentleman who tracks when the ice comes off the Lakes? Did you know there are several artists and poets in the area? These local business people are quite nice if you stop and say “Hello!” Take a walk around one of our local lakes, such as Alexander, Shamineau, Fish Trap, Crookneck, Round, Ham, Lena, or Big Lake. This list is long so I will only name these for now. You could not ask to move to a nicer community!

Sounds like Lund Boats is coming to Lake Shamineau for a boat show! What a beautiful lake to do this on! Hope they get a few photos of the wonderful Bible camp! It has a lot to offer, from water activities to rock climbing. On a warm summer night you can hear the people singing and laughing.

Check out SweetWater resort over on Fish Trap. Cindy and Chuck are great hosts and enjoy the people and the lake. They are sponsoring a Youth Bass fishing contest this year. More details will follow.

How about that Lake Alexander? Have you been to the “new” Castaway? Speaking with Ron he tells me the fish are always biting on our lake! If nothing else, relax and watch the water, or make your dinner reservation.

Looking for a great time in the Brainerd Lakes Area? Visit the Friendly Inn just off of Highway 10 and County Road 203. Rudy and Joni welcome you with a friendly smile as well as a great staff, so go on over and have a beer or a cheeseburger.

Make sure you stop in at Lincoln Gas and Bait. They have a deli for you to rest your feet in for awhile. Make sure you pick up subs and bait as you head for your favorite fishing spot in the Brainerd Lakes Area.

As you are looking down the list, let’s not forget to stop in and give Kelly at the Hitchin’ Rail a bad time. He loves to chat with people and has a great ear. They also have a nice dining area. Don’t forget to check out their new patio!
